The Canadian ELD Mandate is coming, and Omnitracs remains committed to ensuring our customers are compliant once Canadian ELD enforcement is in full effect. The mandate is intended to make Canadian roads safer and driver lives easier. Hours of Service (HOS) regulations, which have long been a reality in the commercial vehicle sector in both the U.S. and Canada, limit the hours commercial motor vehicle drivers can spend on the road in a given day, thereby preventing hazardous and potentially fatal accidents resulting from fatigued drivers behind the wheel.
The Canadian ELD Mandate simplifies the recording of a driver's required day-to-day Record of Duty Status (RODS) by moving the documentation from paper logs to electronic devices. As was the case with the U.S. ELD Mandate, the Canadian ELD Mandate does not change HOS regulations. It simply streamlines the RODS recording process, guaranteeing better accuracy and saving your teams time previously spent on manual logging.
