Omnitracs and Trucker Buddy International Team Up for Book Donation

Earlier this year, Omnitracs had the privilege to partner with Trucker Buddy International, a nonprofit organization started in 1992 and dedicated to helping educate and mentor school children via a pen pal relationship between professional truck drivers and children in kindergarten through eighth grade.  We had teamed up through a book donation at the Great American Truck Show in Dallas, where we were able to equip them with the children’s book, “Papa Doug Hauls Strawberries and Smiles.” At the show, more than 130 copies of the book were given to attending Boy Scouts, teachers, and drivers’ families to help educate the public about the importance and value of the trucking industry.

With an extra supply of the books, Trucker Buddy was recently able to connect with many more young readers from a Boy Scouts troop at the “Circle Ten Boy Scout Xperience” held at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas.

The book, which tells the story of a truck driver’s tales from the road, was a perfect pairing for these scouts who had the chance to explore the inside of a truck cab and the massive engines that power it.

We are proud to partner with Trucker Buddy to help introduce trucking as a career choice to children and help give them the resources they need to keep doing an exemplary job in the community. As a leading member of the commercial trucking industry, it’s important to give back, connect with the community, and continue to position the trucking industry in a positive light.
